Pakistani restaurant owners get a raw deal on POS software.
The international options — Toast, Square, Lightspeed — weren't built for Pakistan and don't officially support Pakistani payment processing. The local options vary wildly in quality. And most independents end up doing what they've always done: notebook, WhatsApp, and memory.
Let's go through the actual options available in 2026, what each costs, and what actually fits different restaurant sizes.
The categories
Pakistan restaurant tech breaks into four groups:
- Local Pakistan POS — built here, FBR-compliant, Urdu support (Foodnerd, others)
- MENA POS — built for Middle East, adapted for Pakistan (Foodics)
- International POS — Toast, Square, Lightspeed (workaround setups)
- Manual + WhatsApp-based tools — notebook, spreadsheets, TableAI
Different fits for different restaurants. Let's go through each.
Local Pakistan POS
Foodnerd
Islamabad-based POS. This is the most established Pakistani restaurant POS option in 2026.
What it does: Full POS with FBR/PRA invoicing integration, Foodpanda integration for delivery orders, Urdu support, local payment options (JazzCash, EasyPaisa), inventory management, kitchen display screens.
Where they operate: Headquartered in Islamabad, offices in Karachi, Lahore, Multan. Also operates in Saudi Arabia, UAE, UK, Oman.
Best fit: Full-service restaurants that need FBR compliance, delivery platform integration, and proper POS terminals at every counter. If you're doing Rs 15,00,000+/month and need everything in one system, this is probably your best local option.
Pricing: Not publicly listed. Custom quotes based on restaurant size, number of terminals, and features needed. Contact them via their website for pricing specific to your setup.
Downsides: Custom pricing means friction to compare. Requires hardware (terminals, printers). Setup time is measured in days, not minutes.
Other local options
There are smaller Pakistani POS vendors — some focused on retail with restaurant features bolted on, some regional (Karachi-only or Lahore-only). Quality varies. If Foodnerd doesn't fit, ask other restaurant owners in your city what they use. Word of mouth is more reliable than Google reviews for the smaller vendors.
MENA POS: Foodics
Foodics is a well-known POS in the Middle East — big in Saudi Arabia and UAE. Some Pakistani restaurants use it, but it's primarily designed for MENA operations and doesn't have deep Pakistan-specific features (no FBR integration, no Foodpanda integration, less Urdu support than Foodnerd).
Best fit: Restaurants with operations across Pakistan AND Gulf countries who want one system. For Pakistan-only operations, Foodnerd is a better local fit.
Pricing: Custom, similar to Foodnerd. Contact them directly.
International POS: Toast, Square, Lightspeed
The honest truth: these aren't officially supported for payment processing in Pakistan. You can use them for the tracking and reporting layers, but you can't run your credit card sales through them locally.
Toast POS: $250-500/month for small café setup all-in (before hardware). Full-service: $700-2,500/month. Won't process Pakistani card payments. Some Pakistani restaurants use it for reporting only, with a separate local card reader.
Square for Restaurants: $49-149/month per location. Only officially supports US, UK, Canada, Australia, and a few EU countries. Not available for new signups from Pakistan.
Lightspeed Restaurant: Similar situation — supported in North America and Europe, workaround setup for Pakistan.
Best fit for Pakistan: Almost never. If you're operating in Pakistan, use a Pakistani POS. The international ones create more problems than they solve.
Manual + WhatsApp-based tools
The reality: 70%+ of independent Pakistani restaurants track everything manually. Notebook for sales, WhatsApp for supplier orders, memory for stock levels. It's free but limited.
The problem with manual tracking is what we've covered elsewhere: you catch trends late, you run out of ingredients you didn't know were low, you don't know which day of the week has been dropping.
TableAI
WhatsApp-based tracking (not a POS). Built in Islamabad, priced for Pakistani margins.
What it does: Log daily sales via WhatsApp text, track inventory items, staff attendance, and receive a morning briefing at 7am. Doesn't process payments — sits alongside your existing payment method (cash, JazzCash, EasyPaisa, card reader).
Pricing: Free during early access. Planned $29-49/month later.
Best fit: Small independent restaurants (cafés, QSR, food trucks, small full-service) doing Rs 200,000 to Rs 25,00,000/month who want daily tracking without POS complexity. Owners who don't need FBR-compliant fiscal receipts.
Downsides: Not a POS — doesn't print receipts at the counter, doesn't process cards, no kitchen display. If you need those, use Foodnerd. TableAI can also run alongside Foodnerd for the WhatsApp-based tracking and briefings.
Decision framework by restaurant size
Small café / QSR (Rs 2-8 lakh/month)
- Manual tracking: works but you'll miss trends
- TableAI: best fit — free during early access, no hardware, no training
- Foodnerd: overkill unless you need FBR compliance
- International POS: don't bother
Mid-size restaurant (Rs 8-25 lakh/month)
- TableAI: still fits if you don't need in-counter POS
- Foodnerd: fits if you need proper POS terminals, delivery integration, FBR

Beyond features and price, three things matter for Pakistan:
1. FBR compliance. If you're registered for sales tax and need to issue fiscal receipts, you need a POS that generates FBR-compliant invoices. Foodnerd handles this. TableAI doesn't.
